Volatus Infrastructure has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with South Korean eVTOL vehicle manufacturer Plana to work together on vertiport development and integration of eVTOL operations to strengthen the advanced air mobility industry.
“The only way the eVTOL industry is going to succeed is through collaboration and working together,” said Grant Fisk, Volatus Infrastructure co-founder.
“When you find another company that shares your core philosophies like Plana shares our philosophy of accessibility, you know it’s going to be a successful partnership.”
Plana CEO Braden Kim continued: “It is quite a meaningful moment for Plana to sign a MOU with Volatus, which offers a top-class eVTOL infrastructure, and to formulate an ecosystem to accelerate the realisation of advanced air mobility in our lives.”
Founded in July 2021, Plana focuses on hybrid powertrain systems with a differentiated market strategy, and its VTOL aircraft can carry up to six passengers with one pilot at a cruising speed of 190 mph with range of more than 310 miles.
Plana plans to finish the eVTOL subscale flight test this year, and to launch a branch office in the US for closer communication starting the certification process with the FAA, and to participate in the Korean Grand Challenge UAM demonstration project organised by Korea Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT).

Last month, Volatus Infrastructure signed an agreement with Bellefonte Airport in Pennsylvania to build a public use FAA compliant eVTOL vertiport with up to eight landing pads, including a charging station at each pad.
